BSF and the 'supply chain' in schools

I read this article in the Observer newspaper last Sunday....

Although not aimed at schools or BSF, it exposes a number of management 'myths' surrounding things like outsourcing, bigger is better and remote customer support. Many of these have/are being used to support the arguments underpinning BSF.

It just confirms what I've been saying all along. Nearly every time a company outsources major things, it goes majorly wrong. The companies seem to think operating with half their staff in a distant country takes as much management/admin as having them in the same place when in fact it takes a lot lot more.
