Does anybody know of any figures concerning how much external managed ICT services cost?
Would be helpful if you could relate these to school size and level of service that is provided.
Thanks

Many many factors taken into account, could be anything from a few K to 12K in my experience.
We pay £60 per pupil but depending on level of service somewhere between £60 - £120.
I'd say £60 pp is quite low. What do you get for that?
OTOH most people who know the answers to these question are under NDA's so any discussion here would almost certainly have to be very carefully worded to avoid identifiable contracts.

The devil is in the detail;
The service costs can be manipulated by the LA & its partners in the LEP according to what gets included in the contract; it is possible to bring the apparent managed service cost per student down by using BSF capital ICT funding to pay up front for 5-year warranties for hardware, or licence software with annual charges for maintenance & support for 5 years. It's tough on the school when the contract ends and they are faced with a choice:
a) Terminate the managed service contract and find the money to continue paying software licences & find money for equipment replacements or repairs outside of warranty.
b) Renew the service contract with a huge increase in service charges that cover the repair/replacement costs and software maintenance.
Rock & a hard place come to mind.....
17k was quoted to my previous employers. No idea how the service provider came to that figure. 800 pupils, 100 staff, 600 client devices.
