Good, I wish them every bit of luck. A shame our council has not got the balls to do something similar. Some of the schools where I am are in desperate need for new buildings and cash injections to bring them up to spec.
Michael Gove - yet another moron alongside Osborne:

Go My Council! My Old School has been taken out of the Sum but if this all goes through, be nice to see them get a new build.

Call me cynical, but isn't this just wasting yet more tax payers money that could be put to good use somewhere else. If they win and the government are forced into spending that money then it just means they'll have to make cuts elsewhere. If they can't cut it from the schools budgets, then you can guess which one will be next.

Yup that is exactly how I see it. Wasting public money to gain public money?! Madness!

We are under an education review in my area at present with schools at risk (as well as jobs etc) and people are complaining what the LA sent out wasn't big, shiny, glossy and posted to every house in the district. Eeer I know to save the future of education etc lets spend say £30K sending out glossy brochures saying about it all etc when instead you send out plain black and white copies that fine are not "beautiful" but are to the point and cover what is needed, take out Ads in the local press that are simple etc. I vote for that idea not the silly glossy ones its just stupid!

Interesting. With a just-another-citizen-hat on I was sick to the back teeth of those well before the doom & gloom - I resented having to wade through all the pretty politically-correct smiley-happy pictures in order to extract a typically tiny bit of useful information.

Think the moral of the tale is that whenever you change something, a particular type of person will use that as an excuse to do what they do best: complain.
