We've been told that anything over 3 years old (don't know if that includes the techies) will be replaced with brand new equipment, and as the new build is 3/4 years away, not to buy any more IT equipment unless it's really necessary. look forward to fun and games in a few years time as more resource hungry educational software is released.

Re: BSF dates - are you prepared?

As previously mentioned LEA's must prove feasibility of using an alternative to the partnerships for schools framework. I did quick check on PfS

    Code:
    whois partnershipsforschools.org.uk

        Domain name:
            partnershipsforschools.org.uk

        Registrant:
            Partnerships UK plc

        Registrant type:
UK Public Limited Company, (Company number: 3993425)

        Registrant's address:
            10 Great George Street
            LONDON
            SW1P 3AE
            GB
So it seems PfS is a public limited comany itself.
another quick check against their company number on companies house website reveals that one of their major shareholders is Serco (of CMIS fame). I'm tempted to read more into this but am quite shocked that the a profit making company has the final say over whether an outsourced project is 'feasible'.

If Serco are a key shareholder, best we all start learning Facility (for those who don't already) it will save you all the stress in a few years time when you will no doubt have to use it as part of the deal. I can tell you its a nice proggy once you get into it.

I'm not sure that serco has actually been approved by becta to bid for BSF contracts, hence I didn't want to read too much into it.

Re: BSF dates - are you prepared?

Who knows, as I am not in my current place affected by it I have not read much into it. But I would think Serco would be aiming to be on the appoved list, would seem silly that they were not, but hey ho what will be will be

    Wave 13-15: Group C & E
That's us here. What does 'Wave 13-15' equate to in real world dates?

Re: BSF dates - are you prepared?

Reported on the news this evening that Blair intends on accelerating BSF because he wants education reform to be his legacy, so there may be changes to the programme already in place. Or maybe its being accelerated because people are starting to ask questions about procurement and cash for honours ?
