Bristol is in contract with Northgate.
Not really had much dealings with them yet. I believe they are not having much success with the Wave 1 schools just hope things get better for when they reach us next year
Where you from?

Surrey,
I just had a call today, they are after a Network Manager for one of there schools who are going over to the BSF soon......I've been told who ever comes on board will be carried over.........
They have run the school ICT systems in Northern Island for a few years. I meet one of their directors once who had grand ideas but not a clue about what happens in schools.
When I worked for Local Government. Northgate supplied our Contact System.
They were good to deal with. The only problem was when we had to upgrade the software. We had to start in the early afternoon, and believe it or not, we would still be at it the following morning. It took us 14 hours on a couple of occasions to upgrade the servers. Their software was appalling, it made MS look incredible. It was so bitty, it was hard to keep up with it. It also had a few bugs in it that they could not rectify.
But apart from the software, they were good to deal with!!!
Northgate and RM are the 2 contenders for Hull BSF Managed service.....tbh i hope RM get it
Very bad experience with them, they outsourced the server builds (i.e. network configuration) to a company who essentially botched it because they weren't going to support it. We were then 'not allowed' to move to xp in 2006 because NIS were 'uncomfortable' with using it! (Note, this was not BSF)
From what I've heard Northgate are performing ok at Kent and the council and school teams seem pleased with them - can't comment on what I heard about Deak's departure but I am pretty sure the same would have happened if RM had won the contract.
From what I've heard about RM I think their kit is on a par with Northgate but their culture is much more of a 'do as I say or like it or lump it' and that goes as much for the teachers as it does for their staff.
