Just looked at this and went to look up BSF.
I have come from industry recently and I am a 'one man band' i.e. I am the IT support dpt. I am still fighting fires (and winning!) and I wonder when I am supposed to do all this 'documentation and standardisation' that wouold need to be done before something like this could be implimented?
I am six sigma qualified quality assurance manager. I have had my own support dept with many staff and to be honest its all nice theory but doesnt work in practice because it gets bogged down in its own existance. Just like 'jit', 'girtft' 'zero defects' and all the other quality strategies.
I dont know if the school I am working at will have to go this bsf route or what but from where I am standing, It has no chance of even comming near what is needed.

- Rep Power
Unfortunately resistance is futile, it is going to happen it's just a case of when. They say that you don't know what you've got until its gone, I think schools are going to find that out the hard way

Naace think tank
I looked with interest at the Redland green stuff. But a deeper and more subtle informed opinion is also here.
I think the two need to be taken together, for the picture to be clear.
Its interesting to note that presentation about Redland green has been viewed 400% more times more than 6 presentations.
This shows me that 1) edugeek probably is generating a lot of traffic on the site and 2 ) there is a real hunger to hear from informed users who are in the thick of it.
Also the presentations from Lewisham are worth looking at Naace BSF Think Tank Lewisham
They shows its not all bad and some BSF is delivering at a serious level.

Naace BSF Think Tank Lewisham
...she works for BSF, of course she's going to be pro it! The point of Redland Green was that it came form someone at the chalkface.

If you could see video Bristol presentation is just as important as it someone from lea saying what we have been saying for few years about BSF.
I am working on getting the video on edugeek.

Hi all, sorry to resurrect an old thread but I thought you might be interested in reading an article from the schools website as they have now brought their ICT provision in house. Redland Green School - ICT Update...Creating Leading Edge ICT Facilities
