Because the person or group who donate the £2million required (though some have got away with donating a lot less) get to say what's in the curriculum. It's not a go at Creationism per se, the article was taken from The Guardian, which was pushing certain of it's readers' buttons.

13th June 2008, 09:03 AM #32 I believe you can promise sponsorship and donate 'in-kind' rather than cash.
So if you run a business or a charitable trust associated with a business you can donate goods & services or consultancy and set your own price on the value of what you provide to the Academy. I shouldn't wonder if the sponsor will be able to offset the donation against tax too.
