    Add Kent and Northgate

The ink is dry on the Kent deal from 31st October. The LEP is Land Securities, BSFI (of course) and the ICT Partner on the LEP is Northgate Information Systems.

    Some shortlists announced recently:

Blackburn with Darwen and Bolton Council (Bolton is aiming for wave 7; value c. £130m for Blackburn, £400m in total):

    • Balfour Beatty Education (formerly Transform Schools)
Balfour Beatty Construction and Balfour Kilpatrick - construction
Haden Building Management - facilities management
      RM Education - ICT cruft
    • BDB Learning Partnership
details sketchy on this ("a Laing O'Rourke and John Laing consortium")
    • Catalyst Education
      Bovis Lend Lease - construction
Vita Lend Lease - facilities management
      Redstone - ICT

with the final decision set to be made on 16th September 2009. Full timeline available at the end of this BSF PDF.

(source BUILDING SCHOOLS FOR THE FUTURE: REVISED EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST AND PROCUREMENT OF THE LEP, sorry FOSSils: it's a Word doc!)

    Rochdale (a wave 4 authority; value c. £200m)

    • AURA Learning Communities
      Sir Robert McAlpine (Construction)
      Robertsons FM (Facilities Management)
      Telindus/Core (ICT)
    • Galliford Try/Equitix
      Galliford Try (Construction)
      Galliford Try FM (Facilities Management)
      RM (ICT)
    • Inspired Spaces
      Carillion (Construction, FM and ICT)
with support from Ramsey’s [sic ] (ICT Partner)

(source: Building schools for the future shortlist announced)

based on an earlier document that means the only consortium weeded out by Rochdale was:
    • EMEYE
Willmott Dixon and GB Building Solutions – Construction
      MITIE Group – Facilities Management
      Capito – ICT

Capito is a real ICT Services company, not a typo for our favourite company!

Can anyone find out the follwoing as we cant get an answer up here

not bothered about specific LEA in the question just the actual question.

I have been having a think about the IT side of BSF and have the following questions:

How long is the IT contract for?

For arguments sake, if RM wins the Stockton bid and as a result all of the IT team are then employed by RM and then after 4 years Stockton re-procures its infrastructure services framework with another infrastructure provider e.g. Ramesys, what would happen to the IT teamís jobs?

Would they still be employed by RM?

Would their jobs be transferred over to Ramesys?

Can Stockton guarantee that in the event of each re-procurement over the next x amount of years that their jobs will be transferred from provider to provider?

If for example our infrastructure was again with RM and we used their learning platform, and realised after a months/years of using it that it didnít meet the schoolís vision plan for the future, would we as a school be able to go out and buy and install without any qualms another product that would meet the schools needs? At the meeting yesterday another schoolís LA had bought into RMís platform on the provider that it does all the online reporting etc through SIMs. But unfortunately the school realised that the product didnít do what it said on the tin, and they then invested in SIMS Learning Gateway (SLG). SLG was embedded into SharePoint for teachers to use.
