BSf ha
We have got Northgate
All we know if our system going to me micrsoft based with one low grade Technician left in every school to clear paper jams etc everyone else will be at the centre which we belive to be at EMBC
Also the servers will be kept there which as rubbish. So things are looking a bit bleak for the future of IT

24th January 2008, 08:53 PM #18 The EMBC and the Leicester BSF are two separate things. I have seen nothing in the specs to say that huge chunks of central servers are going to be at the EMBC data centres.
I would be interested to hear where you got this info.
PM if you can.

24th January 2008, 11:50 PM #19 OK, its on the wiki now with a few contract values on there too.
Feel free to add any other LAs when they award contracts.
All this reading about BSF is quiet depressing, the number of docs I've read inferring we are all amateurs and what's needed is a quality managed system

25th January 2008, 12:19 AM #21 The first 6 waves can be seen here:
http://www.bsf.gov.uk/projects/#
I think waves 7 and beyond don't start to get funding until 2010/2012 so add 3-5 years on top of that for consultation and building phases.
We're in wave 7+ so I'm hoping it'll be at least 2012 before any TUPE here.

If it's any consolation, we're in Wave 4 and don't expect to be TUPE'd until sometime around 2010-12, and then this will be done on a rolling basis as each school comes under the managed service provider.

25th January 2008, 08:48 AM #23 Wow, seems we're a Wave 1 Pathfinder...nothing's even being mentioned here about anything building related or job related...

25th January 2008, 08:51 AM #24 Pathfinders are a completely separate thing. A variety of things are being tried at pathfinders and the funding is different too ... they are being used to feed back into the scheme to help improve things.

These are the ones I've found so far:
Code:
Bradford SUN?
Bristol City of Northgate Information Solutions
Gateshead Morse
Greenwich VT Education and Skills
Hackney RM
Islington RM
Knowsley RM
Lambeth RM
Lancashire Redstone Communications
Leeds RM
Leicester Northgate Information Solutions
Lewisham VT Education and Skills
Manchester Ramesys Limited
Newcastle upon Tyne Newcastle LA with Dell
Sheffield Civica
Solihull RM
South Tyneside Morse
Stoke-on-Trent RM
Sunderland RM
Waltham Forest Ramesys Limited
Westminster Ramesys Limited
Now this is where you can all help - do you work in one of these LAs? Have I got the contract winner correct? Do you work in a different LA that has awarded a contract?
If you have any more info, send it to me in a PM - I'll update my list and keep the edugeek faithful up to date.
Kent has just fallen to Northgate....
Warwickshire and Lanarkshire (?) are all RM as well as they have had contracts there for years

You're starting to sound like Peter Snow!
I've heard rumours that RM and Redstone are in the running for the Salford area..

I'm not to sure about Warwickshire, the RM We-Learn system was put in to run alongside the existing curriculum and admin systems so there's still plenty of work to be done there. I'd imagine RM would have a good shout at winning that contract though. Which would leave me wondering where we stood as we're not a school that does everything the way the LA suggests, including recently pulling out of We-Learn scheme.

28th January 2008, 06:44 PM #29 Warwickshire - can't find anything about it taking part in BSF. It has taken part in an "e-Learning Community Project, known as We-Learn, one of four DfES ICT PFI Pathfinder projects"
Lanarkshire - being north of the border, doesn't come under the BSF scheme. Only the English education system is being developed / destroyed? under BSF.
