No, this is the end of three years worth of meeings, bidding and planning. It's just that up until the end of last year they hadn't actually said what was happening to the techies or talking to us directly. You should be able to see in an earlier post I put a link to the KCC page that lists which schools are in which waves.

Yes, I have tried to find out as much information as possible so I know about the waves etc. At what point in the 3 years did your school start writing the vision statement? Was that quite earlier on?

Sorry, they didn't allow me to get that close to the process so I don't know.

Oh ok, maybe that's because its my 'other half' aka Head of ICT, writing part of the statement, I get a bit of an insiders view Just assumed everyone was told about it from the beginning.....hmmm. I'm at a lost at the timings now

Thanks for the help so far.

There's a terrible echo in my office here these days....

"The contracts havn't been signed yet, you'll be tupe-ing next month now."

It started back in April, and I heard it again in September. Now we're half-way through October and the current TUPE date is November, just don't count on it as.....

Quite, getting a bit tedious isn't it. But late last week did have to direct a slightly lost looking motorcycle courier with a documents package to the main office though it may have been something completely different. Even it is does get all signed up now will TUPE go ahead in November or will it have to be put back to December. We'll have to see I suppose.

    Cheers

Well, it's my first day as a Northgate employee. I received a welcome pack and a copy of my contract in the post on Friday, no surprises so far. Someone from the company will be coming in to see us this week, and then there's a couple of induction days later in the month. Not really much else to tell at the moment as they're been very clear that it will be business-as-usual for us for a few months yet.

Our Northgate contract manager came in to see us briefly a couple of weeks back. The surprise was that we already knew him as he used to teach here a few years ago. He left to work for RM and is now with Northgate.

Outside of the ICT strand building work has now started in ernest. Nothing new to us here as there's been some kind of building works going on almost constantly for ten years now. BSF should prove the most challenging though as just about every department is being moved at some point.

    Thanks for the update

Do you still have autonomy to run things at the moment, or do things have to be run through NG?

Complete autonomy for now. They have stressed very firmly that they do not want to come in and tell us how to do things as we're already running quite smoothly. They will just offer support and suggestions. This may not be the same for all schools though, if they're thought to have weaker departments that need some input.

I've heard that Northgate want 7am-7pm onsite support available for schools and then from 7pm onwards helpdesk only. Can anyone confirm?

The time staff are on site is specified by the client (ie schools and LA) via their tender document. Any employer ie Northgate can't specify a 12 working day and so will need at least 2 members of staff to cover that in a shift pattern and hence when bidding will factor in that cost and should pay staff accordingly.... That assuming they are not just there to get profits for shareholder
