we are a one school pathfinder for bsf and have had to fight tooth and nail for addaquate space for support staff and computer suites. luckly the smt's respect our knowledge and guidence so back us up with what we have to say. good news is that there will be no managed services
Those are exactly the problems that would be pointed out by existing ICT staff in schools, if they had been included in the discussions in any thing more than a token sense. It isn't difficult to figure out that wireless is not suitable for that sort of system, that battery powered equipment is going to be a nightmare and that new technologies (in this case wireless projectors and tablets) will not be adopted properly as staff do not have time to have proper training and to experiment properly.

We have our fingers crossed down here that by the time it hits West Somerset, the government will have changed and new schemes will replace it - without the privatisation of ICT being a key thing.

Yep. one of our IT teachers here left to work at Djanogly and said it's not that great (for lack of better words).
But of course it sounds much better in the press when you say 'our school is the leader in innovation, we use tablet pc's'

This of course is the future of schooling every kid with their own tablet
..... At least these ones work when the battery runs out

For some reason, that photo makes me think of the "every sperm is sacred" part of Monty Pythons Meaning of Life
