Hello
My little brother (12 year old) is really getting in to web development, so far i've seen him do html and php. He seems to enjoy the php side of things, so i was thinking about buying a beginers book for php. He has so far followed tutorials on websites and has even done his own stuff.
I really want to embrace and help him along. so my question is, what book would be best for him? naturally i dont want to over complicate things for him and scare him off.
this will be a christmas present
cheers gang

Hmm... Not too sure whether to aim high or low given the age but speaking as someone who learned the hard way and used this book as a help when things got tough you could do worse than look at:
"PHP and MySQL - Web Development"
It's a big book but it's relatively easy to read and has some good code examples. Beyond that I'm not sure what else to recommend as most of it is heavy duty OOP orientated.

@ contink I took a look at that which then led me on to other intresting books, cheers
@ Diello - Think I'm going to email that to him see how he gets on
I know he will probably come across couple of things that may stump him but im sure i will be able to help him out along the way.

I was taught all by the book called "PHP Bible"
It was a few years ago and it has been updated but it rocked then.
