Installation should be fairly straightforward, especially if you have installed other PHP/MySQL apps before, but this guide is provided just in case.
Step 1
Download the latest BookMe version from here and extract the zip file to your web directory
Step 2
Create a username and password in MySQL, creating a database for that user too. Using phpMyadmin or similar is best
Step 3
Browse to http://<yourwebserver>/BookMe/install and fill out the fields with the information you created in Step 2
Step 4
If all has gone well, you should be presented with the BookMe login screen. From here you can login initially using bookme_admin/cr3ation to set up the system. It's advised that once you have LDAP tested and working you disable local logins for security (this setting is found in the General Settings section)
General usage
If a standard user tries to log in before certain data has been filled in (period settings, year settings, subject settings, etc) they will receive a message telling them to contact their network admin. Once these settings are completed they will be shown the regular screen on logging in. As an admin, when logging in you will be shown if any settings that are required are missing before being allowed to make any bookings.
As an admin, you have the ability to add single bookings under any username, and also create block bookings.
Block bookings can only be made on single periods. This was set so that even an admin cannot abuse the system so easily (as some installations may want staff members as admins).
Admins can also
- Delete a single instance OR a complete block booking
- Edit the details of a complete block booking
- Delete any booking in the system or wipe ALL bookings from the database
Admins and users can make multi bookings. To make a multibooking, you simply click on the periods you want to book in the week and click Book. The confirmation page will list all the periods you have selected so you can check they are all OK before continuing. These are classed as single bookings not block bookings.
