Been watching this ... quite good fun to see a number of suppliers pitch in and say it is a bad idea rather than just techies / teachers.*
It is down to consultation though and the consultation is meant to be for the suppliers, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt if people god give real world examples of where having locally chosen solutions have enable innovation and flexibility which has made a difference to learning and teaching at the school, as well as showing best value. These solutions may have been services partially managed by someone outside (eg The Cutter Project's work on thin client solutions) so ... I suppose they are in need of good news stories from suppliers ...
Perhaps a few members who are suppliers would contribute?
*(as I have publicly said before, for about 1/3 of schools it would be a massive boost, for about 1/3 it would have some good things and some bad things, for about 1/3 of schools it will be a number of steps back before any progress forward is made ... but for a small number at the top it will be a disaster not to be able to have complete control and to innovate themselves without the red tape of MSP/MSI)
