Got A Demo Running

Well couldn't really describe the plugins I added so i have setup a demo site for people to take a look at.

Document Download Component - Ionfiles

Well have opted for the Ionfiles component for managing document downloads.

It's a simple document component compared to the likes of Docman. It lists all your documents in a list, but you can link to individual categories. The categories you create can have permissions set so they canl only be viewable by registered users.

You can only add new docs from the backend admin but the front end takes its styling from your templates css file so fits into your sites look...

Time for a progress report. I have decided on the RokSlideshow module from Rocket Theme for the sites rotating flash banner. J1.5 native with lots of options to customise. One of the main reasons I have chosen this module it is the fact you can set different popup captions for each image.

As for an image gallery option I really wanted to use greybox as I feel it offers the best navigation option for viewing images within a lightbox. The only problem is the plugins that offer...

I now have the basic framework of the site complete. Using the J1.0 package as a template I have created the news/parents/curriculum empty content items and menus. Loving the way you can edit which article the menu item links to now after it has been created, unlike J1.0. This meant I could copy the first menu item until I had the right number, and then go through and edit the name and article it linked to.

Also liking the extra viewing options for modules. The option to view...

Well installation went without a hitch and I now have a lovely J1.5 site with the included demo content. Much better then when I tried to install the beta a few months back and got nothing but errors.

Have managed to find where everything is. Seems neat and tidy in the backend admin now. Took me a while to find the global settings which are now found by navigating to:

Content > Article Manager > Parameters.
