19th July 2010, 01:27 PM #91 What sort of tasks can you not do as a domain admin? I know for example the bulk provisioning in the web interface is very limited. Also you cannot add aliases in bulk as a domain admin in the web interface. Quite a lot of the Zimbra functionality is only available from command line tools that are run locally on the mail server I believe and require some Unix skills to use.
Additionally I do not know if the domain admin can run command line tools against his or her domain. If this is a feature offered by Zimbra perhpas Link2ICT could give SSH access to tecchies in schools.
Zimbra CLI Commands
I think the limitations of the delegated bulk provisioning are due to Zimbra's lack of functionality in the area of delegation of administrative roles rather than a decision by Link2ICT
Here is a definition of Global and Domain administrators

19th July 2010, 01:50 PM #92 The bulk provisioning is the problem we are having at the moment. We have to add the new users the way we normally would and then send Link2ICT the list along with a tag we want them to have so that they can been added to distribution lists. It's not a problem as they don't seem to mind doing this for us, I just feel guilty asking.

My first post but thought I would chip in.
The PMM is apart of the BGfL Webwasher filtering and not the Zimbra filtering but as Zimbra goes through the BGfL mail relays, you will get the PMM.
As Alis_Klar said, the delegation side of Zimbra is limited, which can be annoying from an admin view as well as a super admin.
In regards to the FTP details migrated from Netmedia, I think these are sent to the headteacher after the migration, if not, log a call with the service desk and they will get them emailed to you.
Lastly, don't feel guilty of using the Zimbra folks to do stuff, as if there was another way for you to do it, I'm quite sure they would tell you

Hi trying to set up our helpdesk account to blackberry internet service originally. That failed so tried to create in outlook,it is saying username or password is incorrect (during the test option) but i know for a fact it is not. our other accounts work fine. the only thing i can think of is that all emails are intial.surname at insertnamehere.bham.sch.uk but this is helpdesk@ at insertnamehere.bham.sch.uk.
i cant see how that could effect it. is there anything in admin that i should look out for.
details are correct because i can log in with that account from main zimbra page.
This used to work under the old system.......

16th December 2010, 10:49 PM #99 Sorry for the thread necromancy.
Is POP enabled by default on all Zimbra accounts. I've tried to tie mine with a Live@Edu account with no success, and even trying to connect Outlook at home is bringing up a POP not enabled error.

Only if the account was originally setup when the school moved across to Zimbra. Any new accounts are not enabled by default.
And I don't think student accounts are enabled by default but I would need to check.
Log a call. I'm sure the service desk won't be busy today

18th January 2011, 11:00 AM #104 Sorry to revive this thread but...
I am trying to set up the heads new iPad (i know) to receive e-mail using the native mail app.
<RANT>
Several problems with BGfL/Link2ICT setup!!!
1. smtp.bgfl.org is inaccessible out side of the birmingham WAN
2. bgfl block acess to other mail services pop/imap/smtp servers (have tried gmail and yahoo so far on an iPhone and iPad)
so if i have a mobile user they either cannot access their mail from inside or outside the firewall
Is Link2ICT's official position that they do not support mobile devices?
Anyone know a work around

18th January 2011, 11:12 AM #105 smtp needs different settings for outside access, ring them and they will give them to you.
Dunno about internal accessto other pop/imap etc
