    Did we decide there was a way to stop the kids emails showing up in the Staff account list or vice versa?

    We only took minimum information from the MIS. For students we took the YearOfEntry, FirstNam,SurName and staff FirstName,SurName. This information was agreed upon with all schools to retrieve from their MIS
    Was it, I dont remember being asked, first I knew was when the office manager told me they had remoted on and took the info! Complete lack of forward thinking/planning again!!

    But why take only minimum information? Our CMIS system has every bit of information imaginable about our children including links to other siblings, current class, teachers etc. If they had taken a copy of more information surely they could have implemented a system that was easier to manage and implement! GRRRR..

    Exactly... its such a farce, considering all MIS data is unified (or should be) this is a step back! Do they think this level of planning will work roling out Shibboleth or another of thir pie in the sky plans??

    Data Protection act prevents you from taking anything more than the minimum information necessary to carry out the task. Just 'cos the information is there, doesn't mean it can be legally shared!

    Yeh, but taking their class or year isnt the worlds biggest breach of the DPA, would have made all our ives much easier to have them sorted by a recogniseable field!

    Exactly. And surely if the data is being kept within the school system how is it a breach of data security anyway?

    In this case, I'd say it was necessary to carry out the task in an efficient and timely manner, while other mechanisms ensure its confidentiality.

    @ICTRambling

    All they have taken is First Name, Last Name & Year of Entry - we have roughly 700 pupils, and there are way bigger schools than this. Exactly how would you manage lets say 1400 pupils with just those 3 bits of information?

    You would have to fiter by year of entry then manually add a class for each pupil, @ 30 seconds per pupil thats what 11 ish hours work created by a poor export?

    Does anyone know why Link2ICT needed to disable access to Zimbra untill the Mx records were changed? Seem's completely unnecessary. I was having fun playing with the Zimbra interface.

    Also can't train anyone on Zimbra untill they start recieving new mail to it and they won't be able to check mail on the old address.

    Lot's of e-mails will go un-answered!

    No Idea Alis_Klar, when I was using it the outgoing email just vanished and the incoming was bounced so I really cant see why they have.
