Its a brand new product and I heard it went down well at BETT. Most of the schools we support are LGfL primaries and the majority are running 20-30mb lines and are really reliable. If its the same standard then I'm sure it will be better than I've read on this thread.

I'm from a school within London and use the LGFL service, remote access through Rav3 is either through the browser or you have a vpn, all cisco based so works really well, we are pleased with it! Shame to hear the connections aren't too good north of us!

@RichS Is there a file explorer on Rav3? I.E could teachers log in using just a browser from home and see windows shares via the browser and upload to those shares. How does it handle non windows clients? Thanks

    Hi,

There is a file explorer, uses CIFS or at least allows you to create links to your local drives using cifs. I prefer the vpn through anyconnect purely because copy/paste is far more suitable for me. This is supported within the browser, it was removed by cisco a few versions ago according to their dev team.

It supports rdp and vnc, so connecting to other non Windows OS is fine, again, VPN for me but the web based ones work just as well for staff. Rarely hear of issues, there were some issues with Java recently but that is outside of LGFLs control but they did provide a work around quickly! I haven't got a bad word to say about it

Hope that is of some help to you. -Rich

Yes there is a file browser via Internet Explorer. Not sure about non windows clients but will try it out and let you know.

Just tested out Rav3 with a Learnpad running Google Chrome for accessing files remotely (haven't tested full RDP on it) and it worked perfectly. Will test it with a MS Surface later.

    Thanks for that info

Surface and Android have an upload feature from within the browser. For an iOS solution is there an app which works with Rav3?

I know that you can use the Cisco Anyconnect VPN client and connect directly to the LGfL WAN/School LAN but is there a simple file browser solution for iPad for example.

That why I was looking at "foldr"

Same here. I don't expect to get much out of it, just frustration. More kinda networking for me really.

I've had our area manager ringing to make an appointment to discuss the pricing. Need to sort that.

I won't be going unfortunately - I'm too busy, but I am sure you lot will tell me how it goes...

There were indeed problems at approx. 3pm today, but I received a text at 5:17pm that the problem was now resolved.
