Heading to BETT? We need some advice.

We are exhibiting at BETT for the first time this year and wanted to know what technical issues have really been getting your goat recently.

We love solving these issues within the education sector and have begun sponsoring EduGeek to help grow the community.

If you’re able to pop along to our stand it’d be great to speak with you. Alternatively, if you’re not going to BETT, feedback via this thread would be much appreciated.

    We’ll be at stand W45.

Our Services | RTS Technology Solutions is the list of services from their website. Looks like a solutions provider for IP services (CCTV, VoIP, Digital signage, etc) all based on skills as infrastructure engineers and designers.

A suggestion would be to get over to the introduce yourself forum and let people know all about your company and yourself bud

Also your site link on your profile needs a "http://" in front of it!

Feel free to pop over to see us (next to edugeek) - this will be my 6th or 7th BETT with SmoothWall, sure I can offer some decent advice

GrumbleDook has it spot on David, the best place to find out about what we do is here: www.responsetech.co.uk/services

Essentially there are three threads to the business; IT, Audio Visual and Foundation Services (data cabling, electrical work, support etc). If you've got 3 minutes to spare then do check out our showreel on the home page of the site.

Exactly that. Our staff come from a range of backgrounds including a secondary school network management, electrical engineering, AV technician (with digital signage specialism) and even a geologist. We've had an apprentice electrician join us recently too.

Do you have anything that particularly distinguishes you from other similar companies? We get an average of two or three calls from companies like yours every week, all of which sound pretty much the same. Obviously the fact that you're sponsering an EduGeek forum puts you a bit ahead of the average, but is there something in particular that your company does better than others?

    Hi David,

Having worked in education ourselves we understand the specific requirements that schools have over businesses (which is also why we have never cold called schools in the hope of getting work). We take huge pride in our work and pay great attention to detail. We're aware there's a curriculum to be tought and that IT and Audio Visual solutions need to support that. So for instance, when we built a theatre for a specialist Visual and Performing Arts school we introduced moving lighting bars so that students were able to get involved with rigging lighting without creating a health and safety risk.

Our hope is that both our appearence at BETT and sponsoring of EduGeek will allow us to develop relationships with people we otherwise wouldn't have contact with and who are receptive to the sort of change we want to be a part of in schools. Technology is becoming an increasingly integral part of teaching and in our opinion it's important that it's done right.

It's also worth mentioning that a not-insignificant proportion of our work is remedial. This isn't to put other suppliers down and claim we're the best by any stretch but we have seen some shocking installations by suppliers to education that we've been asked to put right.

I hope that goes some way to answering your question and if you are at BETT, I'd be interested in talking further.

    Best regards,

    Mike
