    Let me know.
We need (in no particular order):

    Ant-acids
    Kalms
Long holiday somewhere hot and balmy
A long sit down with a single malt (or in Tony's case a large bare of quality chocolate)
    A Hug
    Words of reassurance
    It to be all over!

I thought Tony drank whisky too?

I put a slug of Glenmorangie in my better half's honey & lemon last night... felt bad using single malt, but it was that or Smirnoff, and I doubt that has the restorative properties!

No, Tony is not a big drinker (if at all). Walk him past a Thorntons window though and watch the shakes set in!!

If I do have a drink it is *only* decent whisky/whiskey ... and I only do it at the twice yearly whisky tasting nights that are held locally.

Thorntons? Pah ... cheapskate .... hotel chocolat ... champagne truffles by Iixx(sp) ... droooooollll

(Please note that hotel chocolat products are *not* free on the EduGeek Technical Help Point and should you find any whilst visiting the stand you should leave them alone)

I'll be trying to grab another Pen. I think someone must have nicked the one I got from the edugeek seminar.

OIC... I was remembering tales of your tasting nights, hence i thought the single malt might suit you!

You'll join me in a sly single malt in january, no?

A couple of points the tired deity forgot to mention:

    1. Come and see us before you do anything else - it's the only way to guarantee your pizza!
    2. Try to stick around with us after the show and you can join me on the blagg for drinks (and potentially food!)

Anyone give me a convicing reason to goto to BETT, other than silly give aways?

Sounds more like a jolly boys day out on Tax Payers expense to me :P

Why not attend some of the seminars on policy and best practice? Or you could ask a few head of departments if there is anything that they are planning to do in the next 12 months and then hunt down a solution. Or you could meet some of your existing solutions providers and see what developments they are releasing and what their partners may be able to offer you.

Even if you have no specific purpose now, it's amazing what you will stick in your mind for when that wonderful new 'initiative' appears in a few months time.

Anyway... what's wrong with just coming to meet us and have some pizza?

Does your school have a 3 year development plan? Is IT included in there? What initiatives or Govt agendas are directly affecting you right now? How do the services and facilities you provide make a difference to the achievement and attainment of the students?

Can you answer all of these? No? In which case there is something to be gained by coming to BETT. You might not get all the answers, but it will help you with where to look.

And that is before you get the chance to hassle your suppliers, find new ones (or at least give your existing suppliers the impression you have new options ... possibly making them re-think some of their pricing, delivery or implementation strategies!) and laugh at old ones that you dropped as they were useless (it has been known for some people to go to particular stands and ask awkward questions ... possibly even being asked to get off the stand ... no names mentioned!)

There aren't that many freebies anymore ... most people have switched on to the fact that you don't get much return on freebies. We are slightly different ... we are not intending to get a return ... we just want to say 'thank you' to everyone instead.

From a supplier's PoV, it is also nice to build relationships with our users - the amount of feedback we get at BETT is fantastic - so when our friends come and see us, they know there's a good chance they'll get improved service, product or sales next year!

The other thing to remeber is that for the people on the stands it is exhausting. When Tony, Shaun, Ric and I had our 'End of BETT' meal on the Saturday night at a small Thai place just over the road from our hotel we were absolutely shattered, and conversation was at a minimum. It is very, very hard work for us. It is easier in certain ways as we are not there to meet sales targets, but when we have you guys 3 deep at the stand we know it is all worthwhile. Oh, and that's another point. After last BETT there were a lot of members who passed us by because they felt they would inconvenience us, Please stop and chat, we're not scary (well most of us), and love to put names to faces. Remebr EduGeek is a community and to lots of us that means something. We are there to put you voices into places you can't usually reach and talk to people that are very important to IT in education who otherwise would not be able to hear your views.

Dos_Box: I hope you all have comfortable shoes
I always throw a pair away in April after Infosec, and spend the next 8 months or so breaking them in for BETT!
