Wondering whether to go to BETT?

So just worked out I have a free day on Saturday and could go to BETT! I'd drive down and back in the day from Derbyshire so petrol and parking would be a cost. We're a new primary school build so there is little or no budget as everything's already new, but I just fancy having a wander round and a nosy at new stuff. After all, a day spent with technology is never a wasted day :-)

Anyone got any views on whether BETT is big enough / interesting enough for this? I've never been before but keep hearing good things from here.

What about the train - any cheap tickets (cheaper than petrol/parking anyway?)

But always been worth going in the past and am going on saturday.

I went yesterday, lots to see and play with etc. Obviously all will try to sell to you so try to only get your badge scanned by people you'd like to hear from :-)

It is definately big enough, in fact I don't think I got to see everything I wanted to and I was there all day. It is a good but tiring day so have an early night the night before and definately take a bottle of water and wear comfortable shoes :-)

If you go you must go and see the Edugeek stand and sign the poster :-)

I'm able to go on Saturday, but I have no idea if I can just turn up and get in, or if I need to register first. Or is it too late?

Plus, considering it's Thursday, any badge would have to get here tomorrow, so I can actually get in. Or can you pick them up there?


Also, my Mum [a classroom assisstant] wants to go to. I'm guessing she'd have to register as well. Or is BETT an IT people only thing? [What... it could happen...]

You can register on the website and then print your badge when you turn up on Saturday. You just need to print a copy of the email with the bar code in that they will send you when you register.

Your Mum will have to register as well and do the same with the bar code.

Print the barcodes they email you when you register. On arrival take the barcodes to the green badge computers at the entrance and they'll print your badge for you.

It's for people working in Education, not just IT people. If your Mum's in primary, tell her to bring some money and go to the National Hall Balcony stand W66. Sweet Counter have a little stand and do some fab discounts!

If you want to be super green (or forget the piece of paper like me!) the barcode scanners will read the image of a Smart phone screen.

Hijack away, they were all things I was pondering ... glad you asked em!

Bett is open to anyone who can give even a slight link to education, and badges can be picked up at the door, would be worth pre-registering though.

Loads of stuff at the show as usual so I would suggest worth a visit.

If you do come down don't forget to visit the edugeek stand!

Saturday is for every nutter off the streets too - so no worries on job role!

I'd say it's worth it for the networking alone, but every year there's at least one thing that, even if you don't buy, are interesting /good to see.

Plus, edupizza....

Right, am registered, have clocked the edugeek incentives and am now looking driving down to Luton, getting the train from Luton into London and then tube onto Olympia.

Same here. Except for the Luton part.

It'd be interesting to see the people I've been talking to here... And you'll all get to see the weirdness that is me.

Gee thanks @Domino - remind me to give you a BIG hug on Saturday when I get there.....

If arriving before 10 use the entrance behind the main one, go up the external stairs. You end up waiting in a heated room, better than outside. You can print badges there too
