Bett 2012 - accommodation advice wanted

I have been given the go ahead for Bett this year, will be travelling with HT and ICT co-ordinator.

Will probably be travelling by train, just looking for recommendations of where to stay? Reasonably priced of course.

Novotell is a good one, however book early to avoid disappointment, and do not get the breakfast/dinner with it, its extortionate! Also there is a local steak house you absolutely must miss, and a local persian restaurant you absolutely must go to!

We've just booked the travelodge at Marylebone, it was stupidly cheap at around £130 for two nights (twin room).

Other options are to go to a Premier Inn and commute on the day.

Booked a TravelLodge last year and it was OK, basic but clean and just a bit of a tube ride back in the next day so this year trying a Premier Inn and its not that much more extra than the Travel Lodge we we were looking at. Would have gone with the suggested Novotel but purse strings would not quite stretch that far to be justified and didnt want the whole trip to be scrapped because of cost so its a balancing act.

I would recommend an 'out of town' premier inn too. I think I'll be booking myself in at the Elstree and Borehamwood one as it's only a 20 min train ride away

20 mins by train from elstree and borehamwood...are you mad??? no direct trains from there, its like 2 train hops and over an hour away

check with the trainline.... trainstations are ELS and KPA

Novotel Hammersmith is best for walkably close, but not cheap
Ibis Earls court is cheaper, bit of a longer walk but if you are "just" visiting, that's OK - bit of a trek if you're exhibiting but still doable.
Other than that there's loads of el-cheapo on cromwell road IIRC, stuff like "easy hotel", again, walkable - i've walked as an exhibitor from some fleapit on cromwell, back when our show budget was 2 quid and a big orange.

If you come in on the train, and dont mind a little walkies, hammersmith tube is not too far, the olympia station is limited service, and a "guaranteed extra change" IYSWIM.

Tube service between Earls Court and Olympia is slow, its like a tram service that goes between the two only.

Like I said, the novotell near the olympia is very good. comfy beds / chairbeds, nice and quiet and provided you get a decent room mate that doesn't snore loudly, then all is well!

Best Western - most are pretty good. Try The Boltons.
Best Western around Earls court also v.good, forget the name though.
Millenium near Gloucester road tube.
Holiday Inn near Gloucester road tube.
Those last two not walkable (or that cheap - nice tho), but get a tube or bus, to west kensington station and it's walkable from there. Don't stop at earls court and try to change.
Any premier inn has a good bed.

Olympia is guaranteed to be even worse this year - for the last 6 months there's been tube announcements about further service reductions. FYI
