We're looking for six new projectors for FS and KS1 classes. Have been recommended Benq LW61ST or the Casio bulbless models, but have then read on these forums that LED/DLP projectors are not recommended for classroom use... Like the idea of no loss of brightness and no bulbs or filters to change. Don't know much about it myself, so would be grateful for your views.
Main criteria are short throw/ultra short throw for minimising shadows, low maintenance and long bulb life.
Unfortunately at the minute Casio don't make an ultra short throw LED projector. We've got quite a few of their XJ-M and XJ-A series projectors in classrooms and they're brilliant. No complaints from the staff.Quote:

We installed some Casio XJ-A130s in 4 of our classrooms a little over a year ago and we're extremely happy with them... not ultra short throw, but I'd highly recommend Casio from what I've seen so far.
So would I. No loss of brightness that anyone has ever commented on :)
I would recommend Casio's put in a couple of the Short Throws and have to say they are pretty good. I put them on the Boom arms from Promethean Boards with a little modifications to the mount.
Got about 30 of the Casio projectors now, they are great. Yes they're expensive but much lower maintenance than other projectors and no stock of bulbs required:)
Only problem is loads of teachers who have older projectors are moaning that they want new ones.
LEDs age same as anything else not as quick but they do get dimmer with age warrenty i belive is now down from 20 to 5 years, also they are not bulbless its just different way in which the light is created, and yes the lamp can be changed.

You are so right about teachers moaning about their old projectors once i have upgraded any in their department to casio Projectors. They now leaving their old ones switched on to try to kill them.Quote:

Just 1 thing to note when ordering the casio projectors, is that they have clover leaf power connections. This caught us out at first.
They also need a completely different suze screw for mounting... I'd still recommend though.Quote:
