So we've decided to get some digital signage for our school and have been looking at Navaho and Sedao; both companies that supply 'all-in-one' solutions with cool little boxes that attach to the back of the screen.
We've also been looking at Xibo, and I was wondering, how could someone do a Navaho mediacat style box themselves? Is there any ultrasmall computers out there on the market that would fit on the back of an LCD screen?
Acer Revo etc will do the trick if you want to use Xibo :)

They are 3g enabled so managing can be done from anywhere with an internet connection.
They are tiny - I have 5 xibo screens here and getting a couple more - we have ours hidden in the ceiling space above the tv's on a shelf put in the void.Quote:

we've used eee box PC's - similar size to the Acer - the built-in wireless is useful..
The Revo's do come with a vesa mount which means it will easily mount to the back of any vesa mountable monitor - they also have HDMI :)Quote:

Regarding the previous post about small mountable computers there are lots of options including the acers and mini itx machines and such like.
The issue is though that a lot of the time you can't vesa mount the screen to a wall mount and still vesa mount the controller pc to the screen, you have locate it behind the screen normally on the wall.

I used a system call DoPublicity which worked out very well when the machine we had failed and the original equipment vendor wanted more than $1000 to upgrade the software. The software is less than $200 and now they even offer a limited "free" version which may work in some settings.
I used our on our district's educational access channel for a bulletin board display and it works quite well.
