We have just installed Netpresenter digital signage and it's great!
Free Digital Signage by Netpresenter
It's free for one display screen (you can buy it for multiple displays) and is very simple to use.
You can import: photos, video clips, Youtube videos, flash animations, RSS feeds and type in messages.
It's web based so you can access it from anywhere with an internet connection. Great if you get home and realise you've forgotten to update the messages.
It takes about 2 minutes to install the software and half an hour to learn how to create and upload messages. Ideal if you have office staff who are a bit intimidated by ICT.
We've experimented with Orange Valley and Xibo but this is much easier.
The fact that it is only free for one display is what put me off this. Xibo is such a good alternative considering it is completely free for as many screens as you like
Digital signage is a form of electronic display that shows information, advertising and other messages. Digital signs (such as LCD, LED, plasma displays, or projected images) can be found in public and private environments, such as retail stores and corporate buildings.
Digital Signage Displays are most usually controlled by basic Personal Computers by way of proprietary software programs, avoiding any large capital outlays for the controller equipment.
Thank you for this explanation which has nothing to do with the software suggested and I'd guess people looking at this topic probably know what digital signage is?
