AV / lighting training
I have become our AV person at the College, general duties include setting up for assemblies but everynow and then I do the school productions and have been asked to set up lights and sound for external bookings.
My question is can anyone recommend any training programs for lighting and sound? I am at the moment winging it and using Google if I get really stuck but I'd really like to be able to know what I'm doing and what I'm talking about when people ask about different cables, lights, mics etc.
I know there are many different lighting decks out there and have the very large manual to go with ours I just want some general knowledge on anything AV.
One of our local theatre type venues runs a sound engineering course every so often. You might find your local theatre technicians would help you out or let you spend time with them during rehearsals.
Stage Electrics often run courses on LX and AV so could be worth a look out, contact the training team via the Website if you don't see a course up as they tend to look for a bit of demand as well before sticking them up :)
