A Decent Free (Open Source) DVD Player?

We need a free DVD Player program. What are your recommendations? Open Source considered. It has to be easy to use, reliable and advert free for use in an academic environment. Many thanks!

Is Media Player Classic suitable do you think?

In this day and age, I think it's safe to say that VLC is the most stable thing imaginable, superseding the global economy on that count. You can't go wrong with it.
