All of our DLPs are fading out slowly. I thing we have only 5 left.
Epsons are the easiest to clean as its only a filter on the bottem or side of the projector. All our epsons are LCD now
We've got lots of NECs here, our biggest issue with them is the amount of abuse we give them the actual projector doesn't seem to outlass it's first lamp. This is what we've found with the older VT56s.
We're now mostly onto MP310 and a newer one. Will have to see how well they last.
Some of our Casio's are getting on for 2 years old now. We are similar to @glennda and have approx 30 of the Casio's, we had to send one back which was replaced within a couple of days and that's it. The throw distance is also something which just makes them great, we've not had any throw issues with them.
I too have Casio's around the school and they are just fantastic so the teachers say, I also know that Benq have released laser projectors with 20,000 hours life so these may be worth having a look into (not literally as they may burn you eyes out hehe!)
Morning Busybub, actually you may have the name wrong Epson have never made a DLP even though i have seen links to their models if you google it but they dont and never have done one. Yes casio is an option but they are expencive and they dont have the quality of image, if you stick any of the casio range side by side with any proper projector Epson,NEC,Hitachi etc. you will see how much lower the quality of the casio image is, bit like a 405line TV to and HD OLED.

Wherever I get a chance, I'm having some Unistrut fitted to the ceiling to allow future replacement projectors to be moved forwards/backwards a bit. I hope this will reduce the problems with different throw projectors. It isn't normally a problem, unless some numpty fitted a projector at one extreme of zoom or the other.
Throw distance is the big one if you've lots of them
Epsons with 3yr guarantee are great
Casios are great but we still don't know if they will do the full 5 years yet

My installer told me about Sanyo pulling out of the projector market. It is a pitty as he used them a lot for larger venues as they had interchangeable lenses. At the moment he is looking at the alternatives for our possible installs in the drama studio and hall.
3 Chip DLP was getting a big push at BETT this year. 3D compatability and all that.
We have a mix of DLP and LCD at the moment. No filters to clean on DLP and with the recent ones we have had no complaints over quality.
Agree the early DLP projectors looked terrible though.
Later ones are no better to many moving parts and very poor design.

We also use Epson. The only issue we have seen in the past fornight is that older Epson projectors use an figure 8 cable for power whilst new projectors from Epson use a 3 pin power. This has meant getting someone in to fit new power cables into our high ceilings (old school building).
I'm glad the ceiling mounts didn't need replacing or the cost would have been higher.
Other than that the Epson projectors have been excellent and we have standardised on them for the past 5 years.

there are figure 8 to IEC adaptors. We've had to use them in the past.
Edit: it was actually the other way around we needed. Not sure if the former exists afterall!

IEC (3core cable) to figure 8 (2core cable) = safe to use as figure 8 devices do not require an earth cable (double insulated)
figure 8 (2core cable) to IEC (3core cable) = they shouldn't be available because you would effectively be cutting the earth connection on the IEC socket so your equipment is no longer earthed.
