    skype question

Hi, our music teacher would like to use skype for a music presentation from her college professor. She is not so much concerned about the video but more the audio. Would like to know what everyone using skype in the classroom thinks a good camera and audio setup would be. We are a two school district with a 50Meg internet pipe. Any help is appreciated.

We had 8 laptops skype from here to Spain, using the webcam on the Toshiba laptop (1.4 Meg) and a cheap external Mic. We only have a 10 Mbps pipe internet connection here and it worked perfectly fine.

We use a Microsoft HD camera to webcast our conferences and the sound is very, very good. With webcams it pays to spend just a bit more for the higher quality cameras, especially if accurate sound/image reproducion is your aim.

If you shop around you can get it cheaper as well.

Weve just purchased Polycomm CX5000 camera and are using Citrix Goto meeting. The sound quality is excellent even from the built in mics. The camera itself is great (old Microsoft 360) it follows the sound of the speaker focusing around the table and sanpping to whoever is speaking. In Skype it will also do a panorama of the table but it is not quite as good.

I have to agree with Dos_Box we found that with web cams you pay for what you get this little baby cost us just short of 2.5K but worth every penny.
