    Media Server

We want to setup a PC with a Freesat card in it to be able to record programs teachers want to help with teaching and learning.
What I want is some way to make these available once recorded in something like an EPG format (a bit like anytime TV) so that Teachers can have a central repository on the network to search and play these recorded programs from. This should be VOD so teachers can pause, rewind etc without affecting anyone elses viewing:confused.

Is there something out there that will do this? Can anyone recommend anything that will do this?

    Mediasite

Have you looked into Mediasite from Sonicfoundry? This will allow you to record the teachers audio/ video as well as embed their slides in the same presentation from a local mediasite recorder and then upload it to a mediasite server to be streamed internally and externally with either windows media player or silverlight.

we have a mythtv server that has become quite popular with staff. teachers login to the mythweb interface to schedule recordings and to stream them:

you could give someone (eg librarian) access to use Mythweb via the web interface to record. They can send links to the staff which they can use on XP, either streaming or having the file.
