I think that MythTV does most of what you are after
We want to setup a PC with a Freesat card in it to be able to record programs teachers want to help with teaching and learning.
What I want is some way to make these available once recorded in something like an EPG format (a bit like anytime TV) so that Teachers can have a central repository on the network to search and play these recorded programs from. This should be VOD so teachers can pause, rewind etc without affecting anyone elses viewing:confused.
Is there something out there that will do this? Can anyone recommend anything that will do this?
Have you looked into Mediasite from Sonicfoundry? This will allow you to record the teachers audio/ video as well as embed their slides in the same presentation from a local mediasite recorder and then upload it to a mediasite server to be streamed internally and externally with either windows media player or silverlight.
Mediasite by Sonic Foundry - Create Online Multimedia Presentations, Briefings and Courses Automatically
I believe clickview does a solution for what you are looking for.
Can MythTV communicate with XP clients? I dont want staff to have the ability to record programmes I just want to present the stuff that we record. Preferably for free
