I have xibo 1.0.8 server and clients, i have downloaded the 1.2.0 update for server and client.
What is the server upgrade procedure? I imagine that it is as stated above, but could you possibly tell me in a bit more detail, as i have only just started using the Xibo software.

Her goes ... backup your xibo website folder before you do anything else. as you will be over righting the contents of this folder.
Download the update and unzip the contents. Open up the unzipped folder and you will notice the folder structure is very similar to your orginal Xibo folder. Now copy the files from the unzipped folder and over righting each file and folder.
Now open up xibo in your web browser as if you wanted to log into the backend.
This is the start of the update procedure. You will be presented with a nice easy step walk through. I cannot remember off the top of my head what each screen does but it’s really really simple 3 to four steps. There is a database upgrade within the update but it’s all automated. Just keep clicking continue ... Once you’re at the end you will be presented with the logon screen like normal.
Hope this helps you guys and gals

All sorted, took me a while to find where the actual xibo installation folder was. Mine was in c:\xampp\htdocs\xibo.
After that everything worked perfectly as you said.

Since installing the new Xibo Server and new client package, my clients are not auto-updating the content once changed. I have the "collection interval for content" set to 120 (i presume it is still in seconds). But nothing has updated since about an hour ago.

Does it pickup and use a new fresh layout ?
15th October 2010, 12:21 PM #8
It does not, only by manually killing the process and re-starting the client app.

Same here, clients not picking up the updates without killing the process!

Have you updated the clients too?

New installation, clients and server both on 1.2.2. I have had the same screen running for a few hours now (its all in a test environment) and the won't change unless the client is killed and restarted.
Interestingly the flash clock that I had crashes as well meaning that the time sticks (the problem happens without this too) I expect its to do with the layout as it worked originally I am just not sure what has happened in the meantime!!

Hmmm, I've had very similar issues with Xibo, one machine I had was an unstable dog. Swapped so many machines into the roll, only to find it was unstable on less than 768MB of RAM, and the HDD was faulty on the client PC. I have an old Acer laptop which has been running for weeks without restart with those specs, but with 512MB of RAM it fails to update and evetually locks up!

Im running on an EeePC 901 with 1GB ram, apart from the problems above its awesome! Might recreate a new layout from scratch and see how we get along

Any update on this? Do the clients update ok now? I have just installed the newer version for another department but they are yet to put any information on it. However I dont want them to start using it, if it's not going to update as they will soon tire of that.
