    Can XIBO display TV from built TV tuner?

    Hi guys,

    Happy New Year

    I'm just doing some groundwork on a digital signage project and see the majority recommend Xibo as a free, opensource app.

    My question;

    Can I use a standard LCD TV with built in freeview tuner - and display tv along with Xibo content? If not, what software is there out there that will, free or paid for?

    Thanks in advance

    Ben

    Not from the xibo client but if the tv does picture in picture you could maybe use that?

    Personally I do it without using onboard tv tuner via TVCatchup - Never Miss A Show Again for our Samsung MagicNet setup...

    ie: get your signage solution to display webpage, masked off in a frame so you only see the video, not the menus around it...

    You'll need to log onto the website from the system driving the screen so that it gets the site cookie.

    Ok thanks guys. I had a think over night and pondered a few things.

    We have some limitations on where these 3 screens will be and all locations don't have cat5 (grade listed building). I can go DLAN or wireless. So, my thought at the moment is to have a nettop or mini-itx unit behind each screen powering the content. I will look at Xibo further but am likely to whip up a webpage using rss, sky, bbc feeds etc.

    Thanks guys

    Thanks Ben.

    I'm actually going to chuck together a website that will change from page to page (http redirect). That way I can have all the content I want. I just set up an RSS feed from the school webpage so will pull that across, along wiith times educational rss feeds, plus bbc/sky news as a flash player etc etc. I can add all sorts of java bits and bobs then (weather, ancy clocks etc). I will have two versions, one basic and to run locally (if web goes down). Another that pulls content from tinternet. Ooooh, I like exciting projects.
