    Media server web based software required

    Hi,

    We have a video server that plays MP4, FLV, Video_ts folders by calling VLC as the preferred playback.

    The video are listed on a website that only works with Internet Explorer.

    I need a cross browser media player that is web based to be able to play most video.

    Any ideas?

    I use Plex at home and absolutely love it. Even has WAF.

    How do you find the naming / display / organisation of your own videos ? (As in my blu-ray rips are all catalogued but my home movies seem untidy)
    Wondered how people manage videos in school.

    We use JW Player to embed our videos into a WordPress based front-end. It handles FLVs and (increasingly) MP4s streamed from our Red5 media server. All three parts are open-source and were easy to integrate.

    Sometimes plex picks up a key phrase in the description and plonks in the wrong data from imdb.com, but most of the time I just add the short jacket notes as a custom entry. Most education videos seem to be unregistered with imdb, so I follow plex’ help page on episodal ordering and scan the jacket as a custom poster cover:

    <broadcast_studio>
    <broadcast title_date>
    <title_episode>
    Movie.mp4
    Poster.jpg
    <title_episode>
    Movie.mp4
    Poster.jpg
    <title_episode>
    Movie.mp4
    Poster.jpg

    And do the same with family videos, so each common relative is part of a family broadcasting studio . Plex is happy with that.
