    Gym Multi-display

I'm being ask about setting up 3/4 TV's in our gym showing the same picture, there is already an audio system in there so will make use of that.

    The current plan appears to be;
    3/4 32" TV's
Freesat tuner with separate audio out to current audio system
    DVD player
HDMI switch for the 2 inputs above
    HDMI distribution amp to CAT5/6

This seems to add up to a fair amount of money, more than management expected (surprise surprise!), is there a simpler way of doing this that i'm missing? The distance from the AV cabinet is between 20/30m from the screens so just using HDMI cables is ruled out i think.

Looks like you've hit it on the head there - that's exactly how I'd do it. Should be comparatively cheap - what sort of amount were they expecting?

Not including install of a satellite dish it was around £1500 but as usually management assumed you just bought a couple of TV so had underestimated the cost by many hundreds of pounds.

The HDMI distribution amp appears to be the major cost and then the unforeseen cost of a larger AV cabinet, small cost i know but still adds up.

I'd say, TVs - £200 each (if you go for 'cheap' ones). Wall mounts £50 each. Freesat box £50. DVD Player £50. HDMI Splitter £50. HDMI distribution £400. Total £1500.

I can't think of any way to do this cheaper!

Always nice to see i wasn't off the mark. Next unforseen issue, the amp only appear to have 1 input so will have to sort putting 3 inputs into it now!

    Thanks for confirming my thinking.

Any reason you're not using DVI? - DVI has a usably longer range than HDMI.

Wouldn't the HDMI switch just need 3 inputs, and the amp only 1 input?

Yes you are right, didn't explain myself right. The HDMI side 3 input switch and HDMI amp 1 input. The audio amp is a single input and will now have 2 extra RCA inputs but thats a minor to solve.

If the amp doesn't have the inputs, I'd look at this - eStudio Mix-5 Compact Mixer | Dawsons Music and a few adapters.

Depending what activites take place in the gym (ball games?) and where the screens are going you might want to consider some kind of protective case also...

Luckily nothing like that goes on in there, just some cardio machines and dance area. I know i'll install it all and then they'll question why the projector isn't showing the same. Will keep that in my back pocket for now.
