Sony to take on Google's Chromecast
The Smart Stick: BBC News - Sony Smart Stick to challenge Google Chromecast dongle
Even though it costs £94 ($150) it can also download and run apps from the Google Play store:
_69886694_device.png They state that the dongle offers access to Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, YouTube and the Chrome web browser - which will all come pre-installed - and the option to download more software from the Play app store.
I suspect that other manufacturers will be along shortly as well!

We can only hope, the more of this kind of media push tech that is available the better it should get, as long as Sony does not decide to only support this in their new tvs at the cost of dlna, well unless they also provide a stack of apps to make it viable for the device ecosystem.

This seems a little odd as Sony are also releasing the PS Vita TV which will also do those thing and play Vita games. for $100.
