We've got the go ahead to do some exciting video in school, so I'm on the hunt for some bits. But I don't know where to get them from?
Does anyone know a good place to buy:
- A good HD Camcorder, with a HDD
- A "Dead Cat" Microphone to plug into it
- A Tripod
- A Tripod Dolly

13th September 2012, 03:58 PM #3 tripod and dolly, a good compromise is something like the konig one from seme nedisNo Access No Access
I would try to get a mic something like a rode, and the sony HXR-NX70E camera is excellent, light and dead esy to use! I'm not sure of any particular good places to buy those from, google is probably your friend.

That has everything you should need to get going.

Lots of people seem to be going for a DSLR for video - I've seen several pros using them recently for filming work in nightclubs and so forth. The standard seems to be to use a "normal" prime lens - a fixed-length lens with a field-of-view similar to that of normal human vision. This, seemingly, is 50mm for a 35mm film camera, although with modern three-quaters sensor-size DSLRs you might want a 35mm lens.
