Hardware/Software Inventory software Program
Hi all,
I have being working in secondary education for a few years now, At the minute we use a database to record the pc's inventory information but as you can imagine keeping it up to date for 220 pc's when im rushed off my feet installing hardware and software can be a nightmare therefore i have being looking at inventory applications on the market.
I have experimented with spiceworks (works but seems to slow the network down) , OCR Inventory and recently i love lansweeper! although if i dont buy the premium version you are limited, i would like the application to just detect and gather the information without me having to create scripts and software installs to the clients. Is there any software (maybe open source) you can recomend? that works well for your sites? or just even information on how you all track your inventory??

10th September 2010, 03:59 PM #3 Thanks for all your advice. In the end i decided to go with Lansweeper - professional allows you to create reports and scan the network for devices automatically whereas the free version means you have to create a scrript and get the computers to run this at logon to say its on the network and can be scanned. Very pleased with this version, very fast compared to the spiceworks app definatley something i would recomend to others
