Let us offer you all a belated welcome back after what I’m sure, as always, has been a frantic summer with, hopefully, the opportunity to take some much needed time off over the period.
We here at EduGeek haven’t been idle either with our migration to Amazon Web Services (AWS) now complete – barring a little tweaking – and will allow us to better provide site access to our members in other parts of the world as well as easing the monitoring and management burden at our end. This move also means we can now begin to steam ahead with planning for EduGeek's move to a new forum platform allowing us to leave the tired old vBulletin forums behind *

So, to ease the pain of those first few hectic weeks you have just endured when your schools and places of work get all busy and excited again, we are giving you a little competition that has some pretty sweet prizes to brighten your day on the run up to the Christmas break.

And this year is rather special as, for once, all 3 EduGeek admins will be present on the stand. ZeroHour, Ric_ and myself are going to be there and hoping to meet just a few of our 6.3 million annual US visitors and if the amount of members and well-wishers we had come to see us last year in San Antonio was anything to go by we’ll be even busier this year! ...

As requested by several of you last week I have been doing some mining through our analytics and can now present some nice graphs showing the growth and decline of certain versions of Windows, Browsers and which O/S's have visited EduGeek over the past 5/6 years. Keeping a constant eye on large networks is hard work, and it is often the case that you never get to find out about problems until after they have struck, which can sometimes make you look a bit foolish, especially when it is an obscure piece of networking equipment or long ignored device that decides to go ‘pop’ at a critical time. ...

Well we have applied the first part of v5 for you all to enjoy.
In Stage 1 we have redesigned the navbar as well as switching to jQuery for forum tab generation along with other features.
We will be rolling out the changes for v5 over several stages for the next few days to allow final load testing with real load and complete testing (and sleep).
If you experience any issues please try to grab a screenshot and post it in the "Site Problems" forum.
