    I've been doing a fair amount of rolling out of new systems recently, both OS X and Windows based. While the OS X based stuff has been an interesting look at a reasonably recent and up to date operating system (10.6), it occurred to me that the Microsoft side of things was the same old irritating process of fighting with Windows XP that I've been doing for God knows how long.   2. Using the DigiBlue camera in Linux

    I've just posted a new article about how to get the DigiBlue camera to work for stop motion animation in Ubuntu Linux.

    As the DigiBlue cameras are very Windows oriented, I decided to try and get one to work in a similar fashion in Ubuntu. Sadly, the process isn't quite as fluid but it is a lot more flexible as there are a plethora of software packages available for stop motion editing and video editing, some being ultra-simple (Luciole), others being more complex (Cinelerra).

  3. The joys of migrating files

    It's funny, I don't usual blog and tend to pop on Edugeek with problems but it's a great resource and one I'm very pleased to have found (otherwise I think by now I'd have given up all hope, especially after the last couple of weeks).

    But the latest problem, how to migrate a load of files, preserve permissions and do it dead easily.
