  1. Apple. Love or loathe...

    by , 20th June 2011 at 10:30 PM
I think most people are already well aware of my opinions of Apple as a company, and sometimes this also derides confusion as to whether I also "hate" their products too, so maybe a little detail without a thread are in order, for those that care to read.

I have a HUGE amount of respect for a company that can get into that level of being, where their products' names are used synonymously (is that a word?) to describe larger groups of products in the same way that Hoover did. ...

  2. Can you ever have too much of a good thing?

    by , 20th June 2011 at 03:44 PM (Grumbledook's stuff!)
Iíve recently been tracking down a number of web 2.0 tools to ensure I register / protect my online identity. I am known as Tony Sheppard and as GrumbleDook with such equality online that it is hard to separate the two. However, since there is a rather good Jazz musician called Tony Sheppard I have opted to protect my identity as GrumbleDook.

by , 17th June 2011 at 05:01 PM (Welcome to my blogs)
    well what can i say

I hate Microsoft unfortunately this is my 3rd attempted at my windows 7 70-680 exam and i got yet again a score of 646. I feel like Iím on one of them marathons where you "hit the wall". for the people are about to take the windows 7 exam donít take it lightly donít think it will be the same as the xp one because if you go into thinking that then you might as well put your money down the drain because it is hard and Iím not ashamed to admit that. ...
  4. Digital Blue cameras

    by , 16th June 2011 at 10:41 AM
We have used the DigiBlue cameras for some years because of their excellent animation facility - the kids love it. But we are changing over to Win7 and as yet there are no drivers for them.
Anyone got a recommendation for replacement camera??
  5. Pastures new, and time to start from scratch...

    by , 15th June 2011 at 04:25 PM
So, yet again I find myself starting my blog with "Ive not written in ages, and here's why..."...!

Well, first off - Ive moved workplaces. A number of you will already know that - but this blog is going to concentrate on essentially the setup of a new network on the side of the old one!

Why did I move on? Well, after 5 years, all that could be achieved had been - and the system which Id written from scratch (ably assisted by my senior) was in a good state ...
  6. The Cloud (Whether it's iCloud or just normalCloud)

    by , 12th June 2011 at 02:06 PM
First blog post, but this is a subject I don't feel comfortable butting into other threads with or a forum thread of it's own, It's entirely opinion and as a result, people are free to reply with their own opinions or ignore it

My thoughts on "The Cloud" have always been fairly negative, and it's highly unlikely my opinion will change on it until the UK's internet infrastructure is 1. up to it and 2. when 1. is able to do away with the home computer as a fat client. ...

I was hoping that by posting a thread we might get the message out there? If anyone thinks

Another year has been and gone for the EduGeek Conference. Set every year near Preston in the Summer Half-Term, education professionals from around the country came to mingle, share ideas and listen to the talks put on by suppliers and fellow professionals. Here is a quick recap:

  10. On The Way Up?

    by , 1st June 2011 at 09:28 AM
Well, it's about 6 weeks since I put my first blog piece up, so thought that now would be a good time to continue.

    Does the general theme continue?

You'd think so, from recent events!

Things have actually been improving. After all that had happened, and being very down, I was introduced to a family friend, who'd also had a bit of a rough time, and we clicked. Straight away! So, things were starting to get a lot more positive. Ok, so she lives 100 miles ...
