    by , 14th July 2011 at 09:17 AM
    Hi All,

We are a large sec. modern who use AM effectively through a system of templates to monitor progress. One area I am struggling with is how to calcuate whole levels of progress.

We ask the staff to enter termly assessments in a sub-level, targets are also in sublevels. I then take one away from the other and divide by two to get number of sublevels progress from target. I am unsure how I can calculate whole levels when our grade set is in sublevels. It's not as ...
  3. 10 Reasons Windows 8 Will Shatter Windows 7

    by , 14th July 2011 at 08:20 AM
When it comes to operating systems, there’s no more important company than Microsoft. For years now, the software giant has been dominating the OS landscape around the world. And with nearly every release of its operating system, it has been able to improve upon its preceding launches. If nothing else, Microsoft understands the operating system space, and knows how to be successful in that market.

But Microsoft Windows 7 was arguably one of the most important launches in Microsoft’s ...

    by , 6th July 2011 at 10:52 AM
So... Windows Thin PC (Windows Embedded Standard 7 - for its full name really) is now out, whats the story?

Its the replacement for Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCS... ie its a cut down version of the current Windows OS, designed for older PCs to make them last a bit longer. You can use it to make a "Think Thin Client"... ie Autologon, start an RDP session and thats it.

And thats exactly what Ive done with it.

So, hows it all set up, and ...

We are moving away from our LEA supplied broadband solution so the next step is to replace our ageing cachepilot. Having used the cachepilot for over 5 years now I can safely say its holding us back on creating a fast reliable internet service.

  6. We're here (or there, depending on your point of view)!

    by , 25th June 2011 at 11:31 AM
After 2 days of travel we are finally here in Philadelphia, admittedly in a hotel by the airport 7 miles from the city centre and wondering why I'm wide awake at 5am local time.
    I HATE jet-lag
Travel from Preston to London went without a hitch on Virgin Trains and all was well as I made wy way to Kings Cross St Pancras tube station, swiped my Oyster card and made my winding way down to the Picadilly line to get the tube to the hotel at Heathrow. Mere meters from the platform the ...

  9. Edugeek Addiction!

    by , 22nd June 2011 at 02:11 PM
Well it seems that I am now addicted well and truly to this website! I have always been a fan of collaborative websites with like minded people. Especially in the realms of IT there is just too much for any one person to know. I'm sure that most IT Proffesionals are with me when I say that the "One Man Army" effect which most "Pre Secondary School" IT Administrators exist in proves to be a real challenge.

While I regard myself as a specialist in Windows Server ...
