  1. HELP! Projector flickering/Colors changing!

    by , 9th December 2011 at 04:12 PM
Epson Powerlite 460 projector that turns colors. Manual says to check connections. That didn't solve it. Have a student who is prone to seizures and can't use it. It flickers when the color changes. Projector was not on long before it started to flicker colors so I don't think it's a heat thing.

  2. VLAN a go, go !

    by , 7th December 2011 at 06:42 PM
I had one of those moments today; the mist cleared (only slightly) in sorting our network out with a VLAN ready for a VOIP implementation.

The various posts here on Edugeek once again proved valuable, and I'm chuffed to bits that I've got it sorted to a certain point (have yet to tweak various Server gateway addresses).

Next step later on down the line is to start segmenting the next work into logical parts but need a NAT box of somesort to do that correctly.

The home phone rings right before a nice cup of coffee and interrupting a typical British chat about the weather.

"Hello, I'm calling from Scottish power. Is Mrs X in?"

"Uhh..no this is a relative, she isn't here. Is this a sales call?"

"No, a sales call would be if I was offering the beast deal for your electricity or gas."

What a weird thing to say. Maybe this is a genuine call for said relative. I decide ...

  5. Centrally managing Signatures in Outlook and OWA - the free way

    Introduction
Right... as part of a corporate branding exercise - I have been working on sorting out the email signature front.

Before everyone says it - yes, I know you can do a "sort of solution" on the Exchange server. Im not going to cover that one in this post - as its more designed for Disclaimers. If you want to know more on that - Google "Exchange Transport Rule Disclaimer".

  6. Managing Printers in a Remote Desktop Environment

    by , 15th November 2011 at 02:00 PM
    Introduction
So, regular readers of my blog will know that we run quite an extensive Remote Desktop Environment at my new School. This poses for some interesting issues when dealing with printing - so a rethink on the traditional methods was needed.

    Traditional Printer Scripting
Lets start at the beginning - with the "old-school" method of printer mappings. Usually, this was achieved with a good old-fashioned batch script, ala Drive Mappings. Not content with ...

  9. iHate Work? iFired!

Well, no, I am not fired but this poor Apple employee was for making comments about his employer on Facebook.

It shows that you need to be careful what you say these days. All too often I see comments on Twitter or Facebook about people hating their job and often they don't realise, if I can see the comment so can their boss. What makes this case more chilling is the post in question had privacy settings applied so the poster thought it was safe, but a colleague on the access list ...
  10. Out of focus Sanyo PLC XE40

    by , 31st October 2011 at 03:56 PM
After cleaning the inside of many Sanyo projectors I have reassembled a Sanyo PLC XE40 and it will not focus. I have looked everywhere for an idea on where there might be another focus besides the focus ring. I have taken it back apart to make sure all lenses were where they should be by comparing to a projector I haven't cleaned yet and all seem to be correct....any suggestions?
