When we where looking into Office 365, on the ADFS login screen, we found we would prefer it if the user could login with the network username instead of email address. This is so it matches the rest of our services. with Active Directory Federated Services 3 we found on Server 2012 R2 wouldn't allow us to do this out of the box. The next closest thing was logging in with domain\username format.

With the recent blog from the ICO about the thing to consider when sending E-mails parents i thought this would be an opportune time to post a quick HOW-TO-GUIDE on setting up E-mail encryption in Office 365.
I don't want to get into the specifics of why or why not to encrypt here but i'll show you what you need and how to achieve it.
First thing to consider is licensing. As far as education is concerned the only way to license a user for E-mail encryption is by purchasing

How to build an ICT suite
Cablers Network & AV Solutions have been providing education technology solutions to schools in the South East for many years and we have developed a few skills that many of our competitors do not come close to matching. One of the skills Cablers have developed is the ability to work with schools and colleges to design bespoke solutions that fit their education technology needs perfectly and the capability to bring those designs to life using only

I have just upgraded to version 9.8 of the Ruckus Firmware. But at first I got this error message after the upgrade had finished - "A support upgrade entitlement does not appear to have been purchased for this ZD. Please contact Ruckus Support further assistance. [What's this?]"
It seemed that the filtering was stopping my ZoneDirector calling back home. To resolve this issue I added the IP address 184.108.40.206 to the authentication exception in order

I have tested mapping shares with Profiles and determined that it wasn't 100% reliable, and not as powerful as I liked. I decided to use an AppleScript to map the network shares, which is saved as an app with a nice icon and run at login. It can also be run if the shares disconnect while the user is logged in, which happens quite often since so many of our teachers just close the lid and can go weeks or months without actually logging in to their account on the network (sigh).

I'm a big fan of cloud services. They provide universal access to powerful software at little cost to the school, and they're convenient for both students and teachers. But data protection is a big issue to get your head around, and many schools either struggle to understand the implications of storing data online, or simply never address the issue.
I've worked with schools that have dived in head first and never considered where or how their data is being stored, and also the opposite
Promethean provide some great options with their interactive whiteboards
The other prevalent interactive white board Cablers supply to schools are from Promethean who have also refreshed their range recently. (You can read my first post about Interactive Whiteboards here.)
With the vast array of multimedia options available for the classroom these days it is easy to get a bit lost or confused. By the time you reach the end of this article i hope you will be a little more informed which will make your future buying decisions a little easier.
I will start with Smart Boards, they have been around for the longest time and in our experience seem to be the most popular multimedia addition to a classroom. They come bundled with the fantastic SMART Notebook Advantage collaborative learning software.
