I wanted to give a member of staff read-only access to Staff Contracts in SIMS.net. (Autumn 2012 release, 7.148)
None of the built-in groups in System Manager seemed to offer the level of access I wanted, so I created my own.
I granted the group read-only access to staff details (by selecting "Staff" from the permissions list and clicking "Set View").

For the past couple of years, barring a hiatus when I was too damned busy getting 2008R2 set up on a Hyper-V cluster with System Center, I've been writing up brief weekly tips and emailing them round to all our staff. Less than a page of A4 (usually), pointing out one small but useful tip for using a computer. It's a friendly way of reminding people we're here and slowly training staff without them realising I'm on a secret campaign to make them all more IT-literate.

I haven't posted a blog in a while... So, have a short bit of randomness.
So, a while back, while at a CC3 training doodah, I started talking with one of the techs. Turns out he works at the school near to where I live.
From what I gathered he was new to tech support, so we swapped details and I said to ask if he wasn't sure about anything* [I think I also mentioned EduGeek as well.]
Now, I'm getting emails/phone calls every so often asking about
