So, I've got all the VLAN in place ready for VOIP, just a few tweaks to be done to servers and stuff but nothing major. I'm still trying to nail down the exact QoS configuration but I've put that ball in the court of the supplier for now . I've got a 10 more Switches with PoE on order in places where we don't have the capacity.

Further discussions with the supplier states that the system needs to be able to Multicast, and with the Softphone feature on the desktops PCs it looks like we need to be able to multicast across the VLANs! Something which you require a Premium Edge license on the Core Switch (a E5406zl) ! Doh! More money! Can't quite believe the cost of it though; cheapest quote I have is a approx £1500 for a license! Sheesh!

Can you not multihome the VOIP system across multiple VLANs, not as good but might be a possibility.

I did ask the engineer wether or not we could give the Call Server multiple IP addresses (from the two different subnets), but was told no. However, he did inform me that they working on the ability to plug the box into multiple VLANs but wasn't quite ready yet!
