Nice write up, are you able to let me know the approximate cost of the Parallels agent? Thanks.
Oooh I know how this story ends. Well written as ever, Norphy!
Just thought you would like to know that the latest update (SP1 CU1) now supports Mountain Lion. It was released 4/1/2013. Download Microsoft System Center 2012 Service Pack 1 Configuration Manager - Clients for Additional Operating Systems from Official Microsoft Download Center
Nice interview. The XP/2003 challenge will hopefully dwindle over the next year or so as Microsoft finally lays both Operating Systems to rest and schools move on to newer kit or get left behind.
I do wonder if they plan on overhauling the UI in SIMS though for admin staff. It has a terrible tendency to jump around on the screen in AM7, accept clicks before the page redraws when loading leading to unwanted results (very annoying when trying to teach someone with double-click impulse!) and definitely overhauling the 3.11 style systems like Exams and Options! There are times when I wonder who creates the interface as they don't make it very pleasant to use for us admin workers when digging past front-office duties like timetabling, examinations and assessment.
Thanks, I will try this program!

I recently used Smart Packager Community Edition (formerly WinINSTALL LE) to package up a codec pack quite successfully — WinInstall LE : Free MSI Package Builder : Scalable.com | Scalable
It was for Windows XP deployment, so I used Windows 7's free Virtual PC as the clean machine to snapshot from.

Probably best posted in the forums rather than as a blog post...
We have 2x CleverTouch LCD's. I can confirm some of the issues such as reflection and difficulty of getting accurate calibration.
We had the Infrared frame replaced (onsite) on one under warrantee. Wasn't that impressed with the internals wires held to the case with tape etc. Glass looked like slightly thicker auto glass. As other have said 4mm thick not 4" !! $2 would worsen the parallax issue anyway. These are too heavy as it is!!
I really hoped that Infrared touch systems would have been replaced by Capacitive technology by now. Obviously is expensive to scale it up from iPad size as big capacitive screens are in the 10's of thousands!! Parallax is an issue too this is where the mouse pointer does not match up with where you press at all viewing angles due to the gap between the LCD and the armoured glass.
Arngrybirds works really well as you dont have to be accurate. The android version working in bluestacks emulator works excellently
Many of the problems are with the Windows 7 gestures most are useless so turn them off. Don't even try to use the windows on screen keyboard it's pants, a giant iPad this is not. I am excited about trying Windows 8 as this is much more touch friendly.
Weight (70-80Kg). We had one installed on the 1st floor and we have no lifts!
Does the Philips screen have a matt finish?
Do we know if this is Google Chrome friendly?
Apologies for the simple question, but are you logged in as a local administrator, or a domain administrator?
I found this a really great article. Am hoping that a part 2 has been written? "I personally redirect to a local copy of the structure I have on the Server. This is maintained by a Startup Script. This I will cover in a 2nd part to this article, including the script used." -
Would love to know more about this as I generally use an UNC to the server but this takes sometimes quite a while on network that I have managed before.
Huh, doesn't do that for me here (not that I'd want it to, with all my tabs it'd take me twenty minutes to get to the window I wanted). What is annoying, though, is that a single press of Alt+Tab switches to the last window, a single press of Win+Tab just shows a fancy 3D effect but doesn't switch to anything.
IE does count each tab as a separate window for Aero Peek though, which is a bit annoying as well tbh - fills up too fast, I'd rather switch to the window and then to the tab. I will concede that that is entirely personal preference, though

Especially when I have multiple tabs open, alt+tab counts internet as 1 thing, win+tab does them seperatly. [I think, for some reason aero won't enable on my normal account and I can't get into personalisation.]

Though when the time comes, it is probably the method I will write up as a tip, because people do love the shiny.
