It has taken time for me to post this because I wanted to make sure everything was bedded down, calm and not influenced by the various emotional rollercoasters I have been on over the past week.

Currently I am a data assistant. At the end of the month I will be a data manager in a new school with a £5k pay rise, a scale going even higher and plenty of responsibility. And my own office. I don't care how small it is, I have my own office.

Of course, it comes at a cost! I will miss my yearly pilgrimage up to Preston for the EduGeek conference this year and I start the day before I spend the weekend at MCM Expo. This poses all sorts of fun logistical challenges.

But for the benefits? Worth it. Ideas for new office decorations below please.

I always have my "I love computers" mug on my desk (always use it as a pen/stationary tidy), A sign on the back of my monitors which they see as soon as they walk in saying "Shhhh! Genius at work!" and a nice little sign with a cirlce saying "Bang head here" (Edugeek has a branded one IIRC somewhere)

Excellent news congratulations Are you changing MIS you work with as well as the new job or is this job with the same MIS as before?

Me and my Data Manager feel very much like we are changing to a new world with all the work on Progresso we are on with at present T minus 33 days to go live for Progresso for us!

Yeah will still be using SIMS, it's my SIMS and SLG knowledge that got me the post.
